Gonna have to agree with you about Letang.

He's a very, very good puck moving dman.

I do like that another blogger is giving props to Letang, and not throwing out his very odd injury past as an issue. Most were isolated incidents, and one about as rare occurrence as you can get.

However, I just don't see him being traded anywhere. I think if there is any water to the rumor, its Pitts GM, Jim Rutherford, doing Montreal's a favor by letting the rumors exist for them to work down Subban's number a little bit.

Eller with Bourque and Parenteau has the potential to be a line that will make us swear a lot.

Who knows, maybe Parenteau and Sekac switch spots.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the guy with 0 NHL games under his belt takes the spot on the second line over a guy who's put up pretty good numbers in the last few years.

Personally I'd try Parenteau on the 1st, get the EGG line back together and put Bourque with the Czechs.

I just hope Galchenyuk starts seing more ice time, responsibilities and especially PP time. A guy like that who can control the puck is always good on the PP.

When does Eller's arbitration amount that he is asking for come out?

i like that defence much more than the one we threw out there last year with Gorges and Murray/Bouillon in place of Gilbert and Beaulieu. it's bigger and more mobile and not too young. offensively, that's a lineup that will really struggle to score, barring Gallagher, Galchenyuk and this Sekac kid turning into consistent offensive threats. even though MB hasn't done much, it seems like he's trying to improve the team's wretched possession game, which is good.

I just think it's a natural fit/idea to put the kid from Kladno with Plekanec. Parenteau is a finisher--which may very well fit better with Galchenyuk and Plekanec.

Or, you may have Galchenyuk with Eller and Sekac, and play Bourque with Plekanec and Parenteau.

Lots of line combos could work. I'm still not sold on Gallagher on the 1st with Pacioretty and DD though...

EDIT : I got it last year with 4 midgets to insert on the first 3 lines but now that they're down to 2...why put them on the same line ?

i think with Montreal, those #2-#3 lines are almost interchangeable. we always refer to Plekanec's line as the #2 line but a #2 line, typically, sees sheltered minutes while Plekanec's line is always the top defensive unit.

isn't PA more playmaker than finisher?

Eric Engels: Subban and Habs Have Work to do
- EricEngels

Eric... honest question.

Would you ever be open to the idea of trading Subban?

I mean he's a great defenseman and all but he isn't nor I think will be a Bourque, Weber, Doughty et al and paying him Toews type of coin it may be of interest to allocate said funds elsewhere.

Trading him right now could fetch the Habs a buttload, and I mean buttload in return which could virtually shore every other void on this team making it one to be reckoned with instead of just being top-heavy.

Just a thought.

I think so. Although except Pacioretty there aren't a lot of finishers on that team. You could consider Bourque in that category also but he hasn't shown a lot yet (except last year's playoffs).
